COVID- 19: Government issues travel advisory for Singapore; China delays IAF aircraft clearance

The government has issued a travel advisory in which it has advised against all non-essential travel to Singapore and has also said that passengers arriving from certain nations will continue to be screened for symptoms related to the virus.

In a meeting chaired by the Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, the government has also decided to screen passengers arriving into India from Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia.

This will be in addition to passengers already being screened upon their arrival from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and South Korea.

Earlier in the month, the government had set up screening centres on the Indo-Nepal border and were screening all passengers entering India.

The delay in granting permission to the Indian Air Force aircraft which is on a mission to evacuate Indian nationals from Wuhan has triggered a row between India and China.

Earlier in the month, India executed a nearly impossible rescue mission, which required massive planning and coordination between Indian and Chinese authorities.
