Ink smeared on BJP leader Inayat Hussain’s face for supporting CAA? Here’s the truth behind this viral video

A video is doing rounds on social media with a claim that Inayat Hussain, a BJP leader and ex-chairman of the Haj committee was assaulted in Indore and ink was smeared on his face for supporting CAA and NRC.

CAA NRC NPR का खुला समर्थन करने पर इंदौर में , हज कमेटी के पूर्व चेयरमैन इनायत हुसैन के चेहरे पर पोती गई स्याही, जूतों से हुई पिटाई” – the text read.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above video and found the claim to be false.

On taking out the keyframes of the video and putting them through Reverse Image Search, we found the same video on YouTube which was uploaded on Mar 13, 2018. According to the title, the incident is from Ajmer when Ink was thrown on the face of a cleric of Ajmer Sharif Dargah.

” अजमेर दरगाह के खादिम के मुंह पर कालिख पोती, चप्पल सेपिटाई Video viral 2018″ the title read.

We found a news report by News 18 on the same incident dated March 13, 2018.

 

This proves that the video in circulation in an old video and hence it is not related to CAA or NRC, therefore,  the claim attached to the video is false.
