Kejriwal’s poll affidavit shows an increase in total assets

The incumbent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his wife Sunita Kejriwal have reported a marginal increase in the total value of their movable and immovable assets, according to the poll affidavit filed by the CM, who is contesting the upcoming Delhi Legislative Assembly elections from the prestigious, New Delhi Assembly Constituency.

Arvind Kejriwal’s movable assets have gone up by about Rs 8 lakhs since 2015 and that of his wife by Rs 41 lakhs. In 2015, he declared the total value of his immovable assets to be worth Rs 2,26, 005 and now as of 2020, this has been valued at Rs 9, 95, 741.

According to the poll affidavit, the CM has declared that the value of his immovable property remains more or less the same since 2015 and no new immovable property has been acquired in the last five years.

Here is a list of properties owned by the Chief Minister and his wife:

1. Flat at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad (UP), purchased in 1998 at a cost of Rs 3.5 Lakhs. This value increased to Rs 55 Lakhs approximately in 2015 and is currently worth Rs 1.4 crores.

2. Ancestral Property in Haryana worth Rs 37 Lakhs.

3. Residential property in Gurugram, purchased in 2010 at Rs 61 Lakhs is now valued at Rs 1 crore.

4. Gold and silver owned by the wife has increased by 5 times since 2015. In 2015, she was in possession 300 gms of gold and 500 gms of silver and currently has 320 gms of gold and 1 kg of silver.

5. Wife owns a Maruti Baleno 2017 model car.

The value of the wife’s movable assets increased from Rs 15,28,361 in 2015 to Rs 57,07,791 in 2020.

Liabilities

Arvind Kejriwal had zero liabilities even in 2015, his wife had liabilities worth Rs 41 lakhs. She had borrowed Rs 30 Lakhs from the state Bank of India and another Rs 11 lakhs from her relatives. This now has been repaid and her liabilities are zero.

Total Income

Arvind Kejriwal’s income was Rs 2,07,330 in 2015 and has currently increased to Rs 2,81,375 in 2018-19.

Criminal Cases

As of 2015, the CM had 10 pending cases against him in various courts across the country. Currently he has 13 pending cases against him.

Tuesday was a day of high drama, the CM waited for six long hours before he could file his nomination. Other constituencies too witnessed a rush on the last day for the filing of the nomination.
