Did Uddhav Thackeray bow in front of Sonia Gandhi’s picture? Here’s the truth

Date:

After Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP formed an alliance to make a government in Maharashtra, a picture is making rounds on social media in which Shiv Sena chief, Uddhav Thackeray can be seen bowing down in front of a picture of Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi.

The caption with the picture in Hindi read: “#बाला_साहेब_ठाकरे_जी की वो बात याद आ गयी..🚩🙏🚩 #हिंजड़े ही झुकते हैं #सोनिया के आगे..!”

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture, we found it to be FAKE.

On putting the picture through a simple Reverse Image Search, we found the original picture which was shared by Uddhav Thackeray himself on his official Twitter handle (@OfficeofUT) on November 26th, 2019.

In the original picture, Uddhav Thackeray can be seen paying tribute to his father and founder of Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray and not Sonia Gandhi.

It is clear in the above FAKE vs REAL collage, in the original picture, we can see the portrait and a sculpture of Bal Thackeray which has been superimposed with Sonia Gandhi’s picture to create a viral image using Photoshop software.
