Did Imran Khan celebrate this Diwali with Hindu Pakistanis? Here’s the truth

A few pictures of Pakistan PM Imran Khan are being shared online with a claim that he is celebrating Diwali with Hindu Pakistanis.

“पाकिस्तानी हिंदुओं के साथ दीवाली मनाते पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री #इमरान_ख़ान .
याद रहे हमारे यहां हिंदुस्तान मे राष्ट्रपति भवन में ईद मनाना बन्द हो चुका है .” the text read.

 

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the post, we found the pictures to be old.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found a tweet on the official Twitter handle of Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The caption of  the tweet dated Oct 20, 2014, read, ” Chairman Imran Khan cutting the Diwali Cake with everyone on #PTI4InterFaithHarmony day yesterday” 

Imran Khan took the oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on 18 August 2018.

However, Imran Khan extended his wish to the Hindu citizens of Pakistan on the occasion of Diwali.

“Wishing all our Hindu citizens a happy Diwali, ” he posted.

The above information proves that the picture in circulation is old.
