Second runway at Bengaluru airport to be commissioned on December 5

The second runaway at the Kempe Gowda International Airport, Bengaluru is all set to be operationalized by December 5th to improve flight efficiency. The will make the Bengaluru airport the first airport in India to have a parallel runway.

This will enable about 90 aircrafts to take off and land in an hour. This translates to a take-off/ landing every 40 seconds.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has issued an Aeronautical Information Publication Supplement informing all stakeholders about the commissioning of this second run away.

This runway will also be Code F and CAT III B. The latter helps aircrafts operate up to a visibility of 50 metres. Many flights get delayed or are cancelled during winters when the visibility is reduced in Bengaluru.
