Washington: In a horrific incident, one person was killed and five others wounded in a shooting incident on Thursday close to the White House in Washington, DC.
According to local reports, it was not immediately clear if a suspect had been taken into custody in the incident, but a law enforcement source was quoted in a report saying it was not considered an ‘active shooter’ situation.

Reportedly, five wounded victims of the shooting were expected to survive their injuries. The gunfire erupted in the Columbia Heights neighbourhood, about two (three km) from the White House on Thursday night.
Located on the Potomac River, Washington DC is the capital of the United States and the seat of the federal government.
