These cops were not fighting over traffic challan; here’s the truth behind this viral video

A video of two policemen involved in a brawl has surfaced on the internet. Both the cops can be seen physically fighting and left each other bleeding. It has been claimed that they both were fighting over the unequal division of fine collected.

The caption in Hindi read: “चालान काटने के बाद हिसाब का सही बंटवारा ना होने पर रुझान आया.”

At the time of filing this report, the above post was shared by over 65,000 Facebook users and had viewed by over 1.5 million.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above video, we found the claims attached to the video to be false.

On putting the keyframes of the video through a Reverse Image Search we found that the video is actually from 2013. We came across several news reports according to which the video is actually from Lucknow when two cops who were on security duty at an entrepreneurs’ conference attended by then UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, involved in the brawl.

The above information proves that the cops were NOT fighting over traffic fine.
