Fact Check: No, Mexico did not send five alpha planes to amazon rainforest

Date:

A post has surfaced on the internet claiming that Mexico has sent 5 alpha plane carrying 50000 liters each to amazon rainforest.

“Mexico sent 5 alpha plane carrying 50000 liters each, all this to help amazon” the text read.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the post, we found the claim to be false.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found that the picture is not from Amazon.

This is a picture of Canadair CL 415 aircraft, Amphibious water bomber nicknamed Superscooper.

We found an article dated August 2010 which has featured this image. This image is being used as a representative image for a long time now.

When we ran a Google search to if indeed Mexico has send planes or not, we did not find any reports or official announcement confirming this news.

However, a Reuters article stated that Brazilian warplanes were being used to fight the fires in the Amazon Rainforest.

The above information proves that the viral post is FAKE.
