Fact Checked: Did 16-YO Zuber Khan develop a drone that can destroy landmines without human risk?

A post has been trending on social media for quite some time now with a claim a 16-year-old boy Zuber Khan has developed a drone that can destroy landmines without human risk.

“16 साल के इंजीनियर/ वैज्ञानिक जुबेर खान को बधाई नही देंगे जिसने बम/ लैंड माईन का पता लगाकर डिफ्यूज करने वाला मानव रहित ड्रोन बनाकर सेना को समर्पित किया है।” the test accompanying the post read.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile did a fact check on this post, we found that while most of the information is true, the name of the kid is Harshwardhansinh Zala and not Juber Khan.

A Google search with the keywords ‘drone’, ’16-year-old’, ‘landmines’ let us to several news articles dated January 2019 which reported the achievement Harshwardhansinh.

According to an article by Finance Times, Zala hails from Gujarat and has invented a drone named ‘EAGLE A7’ which can detect and destroy landmines without human risk.

Zala is the founder and CEO of Aerobotics 7, a Defence Based Tech Organization that “design Smart Technologies for the better World.”

The above information proves that the drone is developed by Harshwardhansinh Zala and not Juber Khan.
