A picture post has surfaced on the internet in which Rahul Gandhi can be seen reading a newspaper. The claim attached to the picture is that Rahul Gandhi is reading a Kannad newspaper.

The caption of the picture read: “हिंदी ढंग से आती नहीं कन्नड़ ऐसे पढ़ रहा है जैसे घोर ज्ञानी पीएचडी हो ”

(Translation: Can’t read Hindi but he’s reading Kannad as if he has done PhD)

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checking team did a fact check, we found that claim is FAKE.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found that the newspaper Rahul Gandhi is reading is ‘National Herald’.

We found the original picture by newswire PTI which was taken during the launch of National Herald’s commemorative edition in Bengaluru on December 6, 2017.

We found more pictures from the same event-

On digging further, we found that National Herald is not published in Kannad language, the newspaper is available in three languages- English (National Herald), Hindi(Navjivan) and Urdu(Qaumi Awaz).

The above information proves that Rahul Gandhi is not reading a Kannad newspaper.
