No! This air show disaster is not from Russia; here’s the fact check

Date:

A video has surfaced on the internet of a horrendous disaster during an air show.

The claim attached to the video is that the disaster took place in an air show in Russia that was organized in June 2019.

The caption of the video read: “Russia Air Show. Yesterday at the Russian Air Show, the Italian air show team had an accident. The plane collided in the air and destroyed ten planes. It was more thrilling than the air battle. Terrible…”

FACT CHECK

When we did a fact check, we found that the claim is FAKE and the video is OLD.

On putting the screengrabs of the video through Reverse Image Search, we found a video on YouTube published on October 30, 2006.

The title of the video was ‘ Ramstein air show disaster’. Ramstein Air Base is a United States Air Force base in Rhineland-Palatinate, a state in southwestern Germany.

In the description of the video, we found a link to the photo gallery of the air show.

The video is of the 1988 Ramstein air show that happened in Germany in which 70 people were killed.

Hence, it proves that the video is old and the airshow did not take place in Russia.
