No! RJD supremo Lalu Yadav did not celebrate his birthday in his lavish jail cell

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav turned 72 on June 11. After which a photo started doing rounds on the internet where he can be seen celebrating his birthday with his son Tejashwi Yadav.

The claim attached to the photo states that he is celebrating his birthday in a lavish prison.

The caption of the photo read: “ये तस्वीर देखकर कौन-कौन कह सकते हैं, घोटालू जी जेल में है..?? एक कमरा- 2 AC…☹️☹️ मतलब आम आदमी की जेल और लाड़साहब की जेल में अंतर खुद देख लीजिए..”

(Translation: Who can say by seeing this picture, Ghotalu ji is in jail..?? One Room-2 AC… ☹️☹️  See the difference in the prison of a common man and him)

FACT CHECK

When we did a fact check, we found that the claim is FAKE.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image search, we found the original picture is shared by Tejashwi Prasad Yadav two years ago on his official Twitter account on June 11th, 2017.

We also found a media report by newswire PTI which clearly state that he celebrated his birthday with his family at his residence.

The above information proves that the pictures are two years old and are taken at his residence.
