Fact Checked: Here’s the real story about Rahul Gandhi’s nurse

On June 9, 2019, Congress President Rahul Gandhi met Rajamma Vavathil, a retired nurse, who was present at the time of his birth at Delhi’s Holy Cross Hospital on 19 June 1970.

Rahul met Rajamma while he was on a Thanksgiving visit to his constituency Wayanad.

Soon, a tweet went viral claiming that Rajamma is now 62 years old, so, she must be 13 at the time of Rahul’s birth. The screenshot of the tweet was widely shared on social media platforms.

Media reports published on Jun 9, 2019, stated that  Rajamma Vavathil is 72-year-old and not 62.
