As per a new analysis according to a forthcoming publication in the journal Applied Psychology, University of Toronto Scarborough, extroverts broadly have four main advantages over introverts at the workplace.
“Extraversion has effects in a desirable direction for 90% of variables, which represents a degree of consistency not previously documented,” the authors write.
More motivated by rewards
Extroverts are most likely interested in rewards for their performance and tend to work towards it. They feel like they are more confident to go after what they want.
Positivity
Extroverts tend to experience positive emotions more often, which can be advantageous for a few reasons, as per the authours. This makes it easier to adjust to the work environments when switching jobs or offices as they balance negativity.

Leadership qualities
Extroverts seemed to be skilled at verbal and nonverbal communication and are persuasive in negotiations and interviews. The show more leadership qualities than introverts.
Better job performance
Extroverts received higher ratings on different areas of job performance, the study found. They also garnered more praise for their work as per the research.
It’s also important to note that the introvert-extrovert scale represents just 20% of the Big Five personality traits, so there’s a lot more to a person to than how much social stimulation they need or want.
