OYO launched OYO Lite app for Android users globally

OYO Hotels & Homes has launched OYO Lite app, which occupies less space on phone for Android users globally. The app has been designed to work in low connectivity and when there is low network so that users do not face any lags, the company said in a statement.

The app consumes around 800 KB, is less than 7% the size of the current OYO app. The interaction time is lesser and the user experienced is enhanced.

“The Lite app…would be ideal for travellers who are remotely connected to the internet as well as those with basic smartphones,” OYO Hotels & Homes chief technology officer Anil Goel said.

The app is now live and available for Android users across the globe. Other online platforms like Facebook have also come up with lite versions of their apps that consume fewer data and take less space.

OYO was founded in the year 2013 and currently has a footprint in more than 500 cities across 10 countries including Malaysia, Nepal, the UK, the UAE, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The huge list of OYO’s investors include Greenoaks Capital, Sequoia India, Lightspeed India, Hero Enterprise and China Lodging Group.
