‘Kesari’ a hit at box office; crosses Rs 50 crore mark in just three days!

Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Kesari’, which became the top grosser of the year so far owing to its opening day collections, has crossed another benchmark- the Rs. 50 crore mark after just three days of its run at the box office.

The period drama has collected Rs. 56.51 crore so far. Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the box office collection of the film.

He wrote, “#Kesari shows an upward trend on Day 3 [Sat]… Metros pick up, mass circuits good… Big Day 4 [Sun] on the cards… Eyes Rs 80 cr [+/-] *extended* weekend… Thu 21.06 cr, Fri 16.70 cr, Sat 18.75 cr. Total: Rs 56.51 cr. India biz.”

The film had a spectacular opening on the occasion of Holi. ‘Kesari’ earned Rs. 21.06 crore on its first day, making it the biggest opener of the year so far. The war drama has earned rave reviews from critics and the audience alike. The film earned Rs. 16.70 crore on its second day, and minted Rs. 18.75 crore on its third day, paving its the way into to the 50 crore club.

According to Taran, the film featured on 4200 screens across the world, with 3600 in the country and 600 abroad.

‘Kesari’, also starring Parineeti Chopra, is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, where an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans. Akshay will be seen essaying the role of Havildar Ishar Singh.

The film, which is directed by Anurag Singh, hit the theatres on March 21, giving fans a perfect Holi gift.

Apart from ‘Kesari’, Akshay will also be seen in ‘Good News’ and ‘Mission Mangal’, while, Parineeti will soon star in ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ and ‘Jabariya Jodi’.
