‘This is what we do. This is Manchester United’: Solkjaer after a terrific 1-3 win at PSG’s home

Date:

In what happened to be one of the most nail-bitingly gripping matches of Champion’s League, Manchester United did what seemed to be an absolutely impossible bet- gained a massively significant victory over the Paris Saint-Germain FC (PSG) at their home ground Parc des Princes.

After losing the first leg at Old trafford, United made a comeback which was dubbed ‘impossible’ by many but for the club’s caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it was just a matter of faith.

No team in the history of the European Cup has gone through after losing 2-0 at home in the first leg and United, lest it be forgotten, managed it after arriving in the French capital without 10 players.

Romelu Lukaku’s first goal was timed at an early second minute. At 1-0, the response from Thomas Tuchel’s players was swift as they were level in the 12th minute. Lukaku’s second goal came just before the half-hour mark and on both occasions it was preceded by an error from one of PSG’s players. Thilo Kehrer’s misplaced pass led to the first one. Buffon (PSG Goalkeeper) made the mistake for the next one, spilling Rashford’s swirling long-range shot.

The Red Devils gained their victory with Marcus Rashford’s penalty score at 90+4′ leading to an aggregate of a 3-3 score and PSG’s elimination from the Champion’s League.

“It was fantastic. The belief in the boys was what we hope for. It was a great start, we set out a plan to get the first goal but didn’t expect it after two minutes. That made it more open for us”, said a smiling and gleeful Solskjaer after the victory.
