This year sees more electric and hybrid cars and hypercars as the era of electric vehicles is almost dawning on the automotive industry across the world.

Here are some of the best picks we’ve liked so far-

1. Ferrari F8 Tributo

The new mid-rear engined sports car that represents the highest expression of the company’s classic two-seater berlinetta. The name is a homage to both the model’s uncompromising layout and to the engine that powers it – with a massive 720 cv and a record specific power output of 185 cv/l, it is the most powerful V8 in Prancing Horse history for a non-special series car and sets the benchmark not just for turbos, but for engines across the board.

2. Lamorghini SVJ Roadster

The absolute beast of the bulls looks aggressive and sharp as ever. It can sprint from a  0-100 kmph in 2.9 seconds and a 0-200 kmph in 8.8 seconds. It is powered by the fine naturally-aspirated V12 engine that churns out about 770 bhp at 8,500rpm and 720Nm of torque at 6,750rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed independent shifting road (ISR) gearbox.

3. Bugatti La Voiture Noire

Dubbed as the world’s most expensive car with a speculated price tag of €16 million, the car was built to celebrate Bugatti’s 110th anniversary. The car has a jet-black carbon fibre body (The name of the car itself translates to ‘The black car’ ) and a 1,500 horsepower 16-cylinder engine (W16 engine). La Voiture Noire, as Bugatti says, pays homage to its Type 57 SC Atlantic. Just four were made between 1936 and 1938, and fashion designer Ralph Lauren is the owner of the last Atlantic produced.

4. Pininfarna Battista

Probably the fastest electric car on road, it has an Indian connection. The Mahindra Group owned Pininfarina’s stunning fully-electric hypercar Battista was made with the help of Mahindra’s Formula E program. With 1,900hp and a sub-2 second 0-100kmph sprint time, the hypercar dons a beautiful design language and demeanour.

5. Koenigsegg Jesko

Say hello to the Koenigsegg Jesko! Named after the legendary Christian Von Koenigsegg’s father, this is the replacement to the Agera RS. And even though its predecessor was already the fastest in the world, this Agera RS replacement is a clean sheet design and is the world’s first 300 mph hypercar. It’s built around a longer chassis, housing a heavily upgraded V8 under its hood that makes 1600 hp when it’s running on its peak, and a nine-speed gearbox with seven clutches (YES, SEVEN! ). Only 125 units to be built.

6. Aston Martin Vanquish

The Vanquish name is resurrected for Aston Martin’s first series production midengine supercar. Powered by a new V6 engine, the car will feature a bespoke bonded aluminium structure.  Apart from this, alongside the AM-RB 003, Aston Martin also showed the Vanquish Vision Concept and the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept. Although both are still in the concept stages, Aston Martin plans to produce these two by 2022.
