This city made its people happy by distributing free milk on New Year’s Eve

This New Year’s Eve, Jaipur rang in the New Year on a positive note. A number of NGOs and social organisations carried out a drive and distributed around 8000 litres of milk to close to 40,000 people residing in the city. They celebrated the New Year as ‘Doodh Mahotsav’ and brought smiles on many faces.

The walls were adorned with posters that had a message that read, Welcome the New Year by sipping milk, not liquor.” (Daaru peekar nahin, doodh peekar karo navvarsh ka swagat).

The organizers of the drive included Rajasthan Youth Students Association and the India Asthma Care Society. The organized a camp at the main entrance of the Rajasthan University from 6.00 PM to midnight and gave free milk to the people who visited the camp.

The participating organizations included Rajasthan Jaat Mahasabha, Milk Club of Rajasthan, and Gayatri Shaktipeeth Vatika. The vendor organization that supplied the milk was Lotus Dairy. This drive was an attempt to reduce liquor consumption on New Year’s Eve and replace it with milk.
