Date:

Stalin was speaking at an event after unveiling the statue of the late former chief minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi. Prominent leaders of the ‘united opposition’  like Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi,  Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu were also Present.

“We have gone back by 15 years in the last five years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule. If he is allowed to continue in power, India will go backward by 50 years,” Stalin said, taking a dig at the Modi Government.

However, according to a report in NDTV, not all are on the same page with this proposition.
As per their report, SP, along with TDP, Trinamool Congress, Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference, RJD and the CPM have objected to the suggestion.

This is the first time someone has actually suggested a face for the opposition to fight against Modi government. Till this time, thought the leaders have been upfront about their support to other parties, they have skillfully avoided answering any questions related to the prime ministerial candidate.

With 2019 just days away, it would be interesting to watch what new twists and turns will be witnessed in Indian politics.
