Bengal’s top badminton player Trinankur Nag electrocuted to death

Bengal’s number one doubles badminton player Trinankur Nag (25) died of electrocution on Monday after suffering severe burn injuries while working in a railway car shed in Kolkata, West Bengal.

The 26-year-old shuttler came in contact with an electrical wire at his workplace in Kankurgachi car shed on Saturday.

Nag was recruited by the Railways five years ago under the sports quota. He was the only son of his parents. His family has blamed the Eastern Railway authorities for the negligence that led to the accident.

The current number one ranked state doubles player, Nag had represented Bengal for many years at junior and senior categories, West Bengal Badminton Association Sekhar C Biswas said to PTI

He was a member of the U-19 Indian team for a coaching camp-cum-tournament in Mauritius in July 2011, Biswas said.
