Users face buggy charging in iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max

Date:

Apple’s just-introduced iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are already running into trouble it seems. A number of users of the fresh new iPhones are reporting a serious problem related to charging when the screen is turned off.

YouTuber Lewis Hilsenteger who runs the channel Unbox Therapy demonstrated the issue with multiple units of the new iPhones compared against the one-generation older iPhone X.

When the Lightning cable is plugged in, some units of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max refuse to start charging unless the screen is woken up. However, the problem appears to escalate when in some units, even after tapping the screen up does not initiate charging.

Users of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have taken to the official forum to reveal the problem. It is speculated that the problem could be due to the introduction of the USB Restricted Mode in iOS 11.4.1 which restricts accessory support in prolonged locked state.
