A student in the first year at DC School of Management and Technology was allegedly ragged by his seniors of the third year. A police case has been made against the five students who were involved in ragging the student.
The student named Athul Mohan sustained some severe injuries on his legs and was forced by his seniors to leave the college. In the ragging, he was asked to walk with a rod and a cell phone in his hand without dropping either of the things. While doing this, the seniors began hitting his hand with sticks. On the phone dropping, they started beating him brutally.
The ragging went on for almost three hours and he kept getting beaten by the seniors for that duration.
Athul had earlier tried to avoid getting ragged by telling the seniors that he could get fits. He was beaten by them when they got to know that he was lying to them on Wednesday morning.
In the institute, several cases of ragging have been reported and many students complained about getting ragged and about the fear of leaving the hostels.
Dr Shankar Rajeev who is the principal of the college said that the student ragged had admitted that understood the error on his part and took the complaint back. However, the student denied this on being verified by the police.
