As the 18th Asian Games draw to it close ceremony, the Indian contingent can be happy with their best-ever medal haul in Games
The Indian squad clinched the eighth rank with a total of 69 medals (15 Gold, 24 Silver and 30 Bronze) in the Games held at Jakarta and Palembang in Indonesia. While China with 289 medals (132 Gold, 92 Silver and 65 Bronze) topped the charts.
Athletics was the category that saw the most number of medals (19) as well as the most number of Gold (7). A major disappointment was the performance of hockey and kabaddi contingent as the men’s teams in both the sports had to settle for the Bronze. However, the women’s teams in both hockey and kabaddi went onto settle for the Silver.
