Apple bans Facebook security app from app store

Apple has banned the Onavo security app which a Facebook-owned application on grounds of violation of rules and the social media team has also been asked to remove the app.

The app has been deleted from the Apple store, however, it continues to be available on the Google Play store for Android users.

Onavo is an Israeli security firm which was acquired by Facebook and has been in controversies for a very long time.

Onavo Protect, its flagship app provides a number of security features to users that include security alerts and access to a virtual private network. It also keeps a tap on apps that other users use and the tracked data is shared with Facebook upon accumulation.

Apple learned of this news of Onavo providing data to Facebook and opposed the company for breaking the rules of data collection.

After a series of discussion, Apple decided to remove the Onavo app from the app store on account of the information breach.
