Shahid and Shraddha light ‘Batti Gul’ with emotions and joy

Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are again sharing screen after ‘Haider’, they both are coming in Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The film revolves around India’s struggle with full electrification in every village or city and incredibly flawed electricity bills, which also stars Yami Gautam.

The trailer starts with Shahid kapoor peeing in the dark, he eats in the dark, romancing Shraddha Kapoor in the dark and entertains the whole village in the dark. In the other half of the trailer his friend opens a factory and soon his factory electricity bill comes Rs 54 Lakh.  Unable to figure out a solution, he dives into the Beas river, killing himself. Heartbroken Shahid decided to teach the electricity company a lesson and drags them to court.

Yami Gautam plays a lawyer opposite to Shahid Kapoor who fights for the people and the flawed electricity bills.  The film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh who previously made Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha.

“The issue is bigger then the film…the film is just a method to bring it to forefront,” he said in a live video on Instagram.
