After nobody came forward to bury a destitute woman on Saturday, a legislature from Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha’s party came forward. Ramesh Patua, from the ruling Biju Janata Dal, was one of the people to perform her last rites.

The only person to come forward was her brother-in-law, but he also couldn’t come as he was not well. Ramesh Patua, his son, and nephew came forward to organise a burial for the woman when locals in a village in Jharsuguda stayed away.

Patua got some people to dig a patch of land in a field. Wearing a t-shirt with a towel tied around his waist, the legislator from Rengali constituency was seen lifting her body on a stretcher and ensuring that the woman got dignity in death.
