Swiss player skips World Junior Squash Championships; Check out why

A Switzerland player decided not to represent India globally at the ongoing World Junior Squash Championships which is being held at Tamil Nadu and the reason is not less than a shocker as Ambre Allinckx, did not participate in the tournament because her parents decided not to send their child to the country due to the concerns regarding her safety.

Switzerland team’s head coach revealed that Ambre’s parents read it on the internet that India is not safe for women and because of that they did not want to take any chance and decided not to send their daughter to play the tournament in India.

According to the reports the USA, Iran and Australian team coaches also advised their teams not to dress inappropriately.

The Chief Executive of World Squash Federation, Andrew Shelley, has sympathized with Ambre’s parents, though, he has made it clear that there is complete confidence in the security that will be provided.

He said, “However, there are over 250 players and officials from 28 countries, including a full squad from Switzerland. Like the WSF, they all have complete confidence with the security arrangements made by Tamil Nadu Squash Rackets Association at the Championship Hotel and playing venues to ensure the safety of the players at this event.”
