The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 114.19 points higher at 35,378.60, on Tuesday, while the Nifty 50 ended 42.60 points up at 10,699.90. The top five Sensex gainers were Sun Pharma, Maruti, Infosys, ONGC and Reliance, while the major losers were Vedanta, ICICI Bank, HDFC, State Bank of India and PowerGrid.
European shares and US futures rose following a mixed Asian session. Oil futures recovered after Donald Trump claimed that Saudi Arabia could increase production agreed by Opec countries. The rupee recovered from losses and traded higher against the US dollar, aided by dollar selling intervention by RBI.
