Class 12 girl commits suicide; live stream it on Facebook

Kolkata: In a shocking case, a girl from West Bengal, Sonarpur area of South 24 Parganas committed suicide, was found hanging in her house. The girl, a class 12th student committed suicide after a fight with her boyfriend and did the act after meeting her boyfriend in the evening.

The mother of the girl works as a maid and was out to work when the girl returned home after allegedly meeting her boyfriend. The parents of the girl lodged a complaint against the boy as they feel that he is responsible for their daughter’s death.

The police in their initial investigation got to know from her friends that the girl had gone on social media platform Facebook and live streamed her suicide on it. The mother talking to The Times Of India said,

“Since Saturday afternoon, my daughter had been receiving several phone calls. I also noticed she had become depressed after speaking on the phone and that she left the house. She returned home only in the evening, as I was about to leave home for some work. I did not question her then but merely told her to have some food. When I called my husband from work around 10 pm, he told me Mousumi had again been out to attend a function at a local club and had just returned home and entered her room.”

“We have started an investigation and seized the two mobiles given to us by the victim’s parents. We will go through the mobiles and hope they will give us some clues,” additional SP, Baruipur, Saikat Ghosh, said.
