15 YO farmer’s son cracks IIT; brother achieved the same at the age of 13

Date:

New Delhi: When you have will to do something, then nothing can stop you, not even the age. Proving the same, 15-year-old Shivam Kumar from Bihar cracked the JEE Advance 2018 on Friday to possibly become the youngest aspirant this year to clear the examination for admission in prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Reportedly, 15-year old farmer’s son of Bihar’s Bakhorpur village secured All India Rank 383 by securing 241 marks out of 360.

Interestingly, his elder brother Satyam was 13 years old when he cleared JEE Advanced in 2012.

Shivam was quoted in a report in HT saying that regular studies, notes, revision and problem solving helped him clear the tough exam.

Shivam scored 92% in the Class 12 board exam held by the Central Board of Secondary Education and has been a National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholar.

He came to Kota when he was five years old with his elder brother Satyam as there were no good schools in their village. He was given admission directly in Class 3 by a private school after he performed well in their entrance test.

Shivam, who aspires to take up computer science in any of the IITs, said that his uncle Rampukar Singh stayed with them in Kota during their schooling and coaching. Their father Siddhanath Singh and mother Pramila Devi live in Bakhorpur.
