Fiat Chrysler will launch a sub-4 metre SUV and a 3-row mid-size SUV in the Indian market, under the Jeep brand, to widen its consumer. The decision comes on the back of the success of the Jeep Compass in India.

This will be Fiat’s global entry into the sub-4 category and will be positioned below the Jeep Renegade. In India, this all-new offering will compete with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, while the 3-row SUV will be positioned higher than Jeep Compass and may take on Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Like the Jeep Compass, the 3-row mid-size SUV is likely to be rolled out of the Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra with indigenous components. The plant’s output will be increased at least 1.5 times from its current capacity.
Though the company did not announce the launch timelines but the sub 4-metre is expected to hit the market around 2020.
Currently, all right hand drive Jeep Compass for the global market, including Japan and Australia, are made in the India plant.
Globally, Jeep will launch two new SUVs every year, starting this year, for the next five years. This includes four all-electric SUVs and 10 plug-in-hybrid Jeep SUVs.
