Bomb blast outside Indian Consulate in Nepal

New Delhi: A bomb reported from outside an Indian consulate office in Nepal’s Biratnagar on Tuesday.

Reportedly, the blast has damaged the wall of the premises.

The police have said that the blast took place last night in an open space behind the building which has caused minor damages to the wall. Police have further said that they are investigating to find out on who caused the blast, a media house reported.

Investigating officers suspect that cadres of a local political group are behind the blast. The party had called a general strike in Biratnagar on Monday.

The security around the blast site has been beefed up after the incident.

Meanwhile, security sources in New Delhi have said a small explosion took place at Biratnagar at the Indian Embassy consulate office.

This is a temporary office which was set up during floods in Nepal and north Bihar and it still continues to function since then.

The explosion that happened around 8.30 pm caused a hole in the compound wall. No one was in the office at the time of the incident, the sources said.

Biratnagar is the industrial capital of Nepal and almost 6 km north of the border of Bihar.
