Padmaavat goes solo, release of PadMan postponed to avoid clash

Date:

In a bid to avoid clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan has pushed its release date by a couple of weeks.

Film’s co-producer Prerna Arora had earlier told that any film clashing with Padmaavat will have to bear the brunt and though the makers of the film are yet to announce it, film critic Komal Nahata made an announcement on his Twitter that the released date of PadMan has been pushed to 9th February. While Padmaavat has a clear road ahead, PadMan will now clash with Sidharth Malhotra’s Aiyaary.

According to a source, “Bhansali met Akshay today and had a long chat with the actor. Keeping in mind all the difficulties that came in Padmaavat’s way, SLB has now requested Akshay to push the release date of PadMan. It’s said that Akshay has a given a thought about the same and may consider Bhansali’s request.”

Akshay Kumar’s PadMan is based on activist turned entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who introduced rural India to the concept of sanitary napkins and period hygiene. The film is backed by Akshay Kumar’s wife Twinkle Khanna, who also addressed the issue of sanitary hygiene at The Oxford Union.
