Auto Expo 2018: Tata Motors to introduce new near-production ready SUV!

Auto Expo 2018 will showcase several new concepts and launched from some of the key players in the Indian passenger car market, and Tata Safari is the very sought after SUV in our market. But Tata Motors is all gearing up to unveil its new concept SUV that takes on the rival Jeep Compass.

Tata’s new concept SUV is rumoured to be H5 and is currently undergoing speed testing in the country. It is expected to be rolled out in five-and seven-seat layouts. Reports claim that H5 will be available in two versions that are based on Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L550 platform. However, when comes to design both would be stark different.

Presumably, Tata Motors’ new SUV will also share engine options with FCA’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder MultiJet II diesel engine. Nevertheless, both will different states of tune- 140hp for the five-seater and 170hp for the seven-seater. A four-wheel-drive trim is also expected to be made available.

Tata Motors’s new SUVs may come with a price tag of Rs 13 lakh for the five-seater and about Rs 15 lakh for the base trim of the seven-seater version, while the H5’s production version will be competing against the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta.

Auto Expo 2018 will see another concept from Tata Motors besides the H5 SUV. The hatchback concept codenamed X451 will rival the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
