PM Netanyahu in India: PM Narendra Modi gives a warm welcome; here are the top 10 updates

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today broke the protocol to welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Delhi’s Palam Airport. Netanyahu, who is the second Israeli Prime Minister to visit India since 2003, is on a six-day visit to the nation beginning today.

Here are 10 major updates from this big story:

1. The solidarity was evident when the two leaders met at the tarmac. PM Modi received his friend with a warm hug.

2. Later, PM Modi along with Benjamin Netanyahu graced their presence at a ceremony at the Teen Murti Memorial to mark the formal renaming of the Teen Murti Chowk as the Teen Murti Haifa Chowk.

3. Both the leaders then lay a wreath, and signed the visitor’s book at the memorial.

4. PM Netanyahu will then meet various leaders with a 130-member delegation from various sectors including cyber, agriculture and defence.

5. The two sides will be signing agreements and will give a statement at the joint press conference. The Israeli PM will call on President Ram Nath Kovind later in the day.

6. Natanyahu on Tuesday will leave for Agra to see Taj Mahal accompanied by his wife Sara and on the same day, he will be visiting Delhi, where he will participate in the Raisina Dialogue. He is expected to deliver an inaugural speech.

7. On the fourth day on his tour, Netanyahu will leave for Ahmedabad and visit Sabarmati Ashram. There the minister will be attending an event at the International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate).

8. Later, he will be visiting the Centre of Excellence, Vadrad and on the same day, the minister will leave for Mumbai.

9. On Thursday, Netanyahu will be having a power breakfast with Indian CEOs and then attend a business seminar. The minister is also expected to lay a wreath at Taj Hotel in Mumbai and pay a visit to Nariman House – Chabad Centre.

10. An exclusive ‘Shalom Bombay’ even is organized where the minister will reach out to Bollywood personalities. The aim of the event is to exploring business opportunities for Indian filmmakers in Israel.
