Global cyber attack hits India’s largest container port

The global cyber attack that has struck Europe and European companies has now made its way to India as well. One of the three terminals at India’s largest container port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, in Mumbai has been affected by the global cyber attack, disrupting operations at the port.

The affected terminal is operated by Danish shipping company Maersk, which has been affected by the cyber attack globally. Operations at the port have slowed down significantly as the port has to clear containers manually. The slowdown is causing a chain reaction as containers are piling up due to the delay in loading and unloading at Gateway Terminals India.

The global cyber attack began spreading across Europe on Tuesday. Ukraine was the worst hit as Ukrainian banks and multinational firms were affected by the attack. Companies such as Maersk and St Gobain have also reported to being attacked by the ransomware cyber attack.

As governments and corporates deal with the cyber attack, Ukraine took to Twitter to lighten the rather serious impact of the attack
