IAS officer gets death threat from sand mafia in Madhya Pradesh

An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Sonia Meena has been received death threats from a mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh, according to the reports. The security has been beefed up for the lady IAS officer after the threat.

Meena, who hails from Rajasthan is currently posted as additional district magistrate and Zila Panchayat Chief Executive Officer in Umaria district. She has received the alleged death threat from sand mafia Arjun Singh Bundela because she impounded sand-laden trucks which belonged to Arjun Singh, according to the reports.

She impounded the trucks when she held a post sub-divisional magistrate in Rajnagar in Chhattarpur district.

Sonia Meena mentioned the issue of a death threat from the alleged sand mafia in a letter to Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh. She has demanded extra security as she has to visit Chattarpur for collecting and presenting documents and evidence in the court regarding seizures.

Umaria district magistrate Abhishek Singh said, “Security of the lady IAS officer has been beefed up and adequate security will be provided to her during her Chattarpur visits”.
