Aamir Khan’s Dangal is the fifth film to ever cross $300 million worldwide. After two Chinese films, a French film and a Japanese film, Dangal stands next. The Japanese film ‘Your Name’, which has collected $354 million is right above Dangal currently stands at $301 million (about Rs 1930 crore).
The list of highest earning films is as follows:
- The Mermaid (China): $553 million
- The Intouchables (France): $427 million
- Monster Hunt (China): $386 million
- Your Name (Japan): $354 million
- Dangal (India) $301 million

The craze about Aamir Khan’s film in China is such that even their President, Xi Jinping, watched it with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). “President Xi in fact spoke very highly of Indian films. He said that Dangal was doing particularly well and that he himself has actually seen it,” said Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar.
