Robert Kubica returns to a Formula One car

Date:

Polish racing driver Robert Kubica has successfully completed a test in a Formula One car. The Polish driver completed 115 laps in a 2012-spec Renault F1 car at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo.

Kubica’s test is his first time in F1 machinery after he suffered a horrific rally crash that severely injured his right hand and arm in 2011. After the accident, Kubica has been building up his capabilities again, starting with tests in LMP1 and Formula E. In 2012, Kubica showed his capability when he won the Ronde Gomitolo Di Lana rally.

However, Kubica stated that he had ‘mixed feelings’ about the test, saying, “I am proud with what I achieved today, but also it shows what I have lost. I don’t know what the future will bring, but I know one thing, after working for more than one year to prepare for this, I ran with good pace and consistent in difficult conditions. It is not easy after six years, but I knew I could do the job and I can be satisfied.”
