Thousands of candidates, mainly from Bihar who came for the Group D exam in Jalpaiguri went berserk and started vandalizing New Jalpaiguri railway station on Sunday.

Around 2.5 million candidates gave the test for Group-D exam across West Bengal on Sunday for 6000 vacant posts. Thousands of the candidates were from Bihar.
According to the police, the chaos started at 6 pm when the majority of the candidates from Bihar started boarding trains without reservation and started crowding coaches of Assam-Awadh express. The passengers complained about this to the railway police and nuisance broke loose after that.
The candidates from Bihar started pelting stones on trains, disrupted the railway tracks and even uprooted lamp posts according to the reports. They also tried to get into train engine which called for RAF (Railway Action Force). Mild action from RAF was successful to cold the situation.

No injuries were reported but several trains were delayed for hours including Rajdhani express, as a result of this chaos. A special train was arranged to calm off and facilitate thousands of candidates from Bihar.
