NCB arrests two with 14.8 kg Charas

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested two persons and seized charas valued at around Rs 1.5 crore from Shamlaji in Aravalli district of Gujarat when it was allegedly being trafficked to Mumbai.

The arrested persons had allegedly procured the contraband from an unidentified person in New Delhi and were taking it to Mumbai when they were arrested by NCB sleuths from a private bus late last night, an NCB release said.

“Acting on specific information that two suspected persons were carrying charas from Delhi to Mumbai on a particular bus, officers of NCB intercepted… the bus at Ashram chowk, Shamlaji, Aravalli district at around 10 pm yesterday,” it said, adding that 14.85 kg of charas was seized from their possession.

The arrested duo was identified as Farim Khan (61) and Ajay Pandurang (23), it said, adding that both of them were from Thane district in Maharashtra.

“The source of the contraband is Kashmir Valley. Further investigation is on,” it said.
