Battle for states: 60.03% voter turnout in UP, 86% in Manipur in the final lap of polls

The final lap of Battle for States began on Wednesday morning as 40 seats in UP are up for grabs and 22 assembly constituencies in Manipur.

However, BJP pins hope on Modi magic as the party has stitched together to expand its social base for poll gains in Uttar Pradesh. But if it doesn’t happen, the party will struggle to get a majority on its own.

6:15 pm: 60.03% voter turnout in 7th and final phase of UP elections. 86% voter turnout in 2nd and final phase of Manipur elections

3:30 pm: 51.69% voting till 3 pm in the seventh and last phase of UP elections.

2:25pm: Voter turnout of 78% recorded till 2pm in the second and last phase of Manipur election.

1:50pm: Overall polling till 11pm in the seventh and last phase of Uttar Pradesh election is 37.68%.

01.30pm: At 41/32 Khambathel booth in Chandel constituency of Manipur, an EVM has been destroyed by miscreants. Villagers demand re-poll in the booth.

12:20 pm: In Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur, farmers have boycotted voting at the polling booth number 283 of Chunar assembly segment alleging lack of irrigation facilities and development in their area.

12:10 pm: RSS’s Indresh Kumar casts his vote at polling booth number 49 of Varanasi Cantt.

11:25 am: 45% voter turnout has been recorded till 11am in the second and last phase of assembly election in Manipur.

10:30 am: BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi casts his vote at booth number 76 of Varanasi North constituency.

10:10 am: A 65-year old woman dies before casting her vote at the polling booth number 357 of Mughalsarai assembly constituency.

10:00 am: 21% voter turnout recorded till 9 am in the final phase of Manipur elections.

9:35 am: Union minister and Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel casts her vote at polling booth number 335 of Mirzapur. “We will win all 40 seats,” she says.
