Amid controversy involving former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and Delhi University student, Gumehar Kaur, Sehwag on Wednesday came in defence of DU student as he said that anyone threatening student Gurmehar Kaur with rape “is the lowest form of life” and that the Delhi University (DU) student “has a right to express her views.
She has a right to express her views and anyone who threatens her with violence or rape is the lowest form of life.

The former opening batsman for India dragged himself into what some call a needless controversy created by some people who circulated an old pro-peace social media post of Gurmehar’s who had said over a year ago that “war killed my father”.

Sehwag attempted to clarify what he meant, although many have criticized him for the damage already done.
Gurmehar – had said on social media after last week’s violence at DU’s north campus, that she wasn’t afraid of RSS student group Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Many students said ABVP members allegedly instigated and carried out the violence against those protesting he cancellation of a seminar at Ramjas College, where a controversial student was scheduled to speak.
