Marina beach erupts in protest

Date:

After the court had banned the traditional Jallikattu, and the Union government has remained mum on the subject. The protests in Tamil Nadu against the ban on the sport have refused to die down. Thousands of  youngsters gathered at the Marina beach in Chennai through Tuesday and stayed overnight, asking for the ban to be revoked. They said, they will not leave until Jallikattu is allowed to happen.

The protesters also demanded a ban on People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the organization which has been fighting the legal battle to ban Jallikattu.

The protest was peaceful and it was galvanised on social media, without any  organisation taking lead.
