Innovations at White House Frontiers Conference

Date:

American President Obama might be the most powerful man in the world, but he’s a science freak at heart- as he proved it while touring the White House Frontiers Conference Thursday.

He stepped off Airforce in Pittsburg and headed to the event which showcases thrilling innovations in tech. There he first bumped a paralyzed man who uses a mind-controlled robotic hand, then he goofed around a baby who was in a Nasa t-shirt and got a taste of astronaut life.

Nathan Copeland’s dexterity with the robotic hand protruding from his wheelchair. Copeland who is paralyzed explained that he uses his mind to control his arms and he could also feel sensation through it.  This makes him the first person to use such technology.

Obama before offering a handshake and a much cooler first-bump said “What a story” The Harvard-trained lawyer, who has never been shy about his fascination with science and technology, gawked at a self-flying quadcopter, or mini-drone.

‘Sixty years ago, when the Russians beat us to space, we didn’t deny that Sputnik was up there. That wouldn’t have worked,’ Obama said. ‘No, we acknowledged the facts and then built a space program almost overnight, and then beat them to the moon.’
