It is a “massive” ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan‘ (public awareness campaign) to reach out to farmers, he said.

The yatra will pass through Amethi, Gauriganj, Tiloi and Jagdishpur (R) assembly segments in Amethi district and Salon(R) in Raebareli district.

“Probable candidates for the upcoming state polls from each assembly segment will join the yatra team led by district president Yogendra Mishra,” said Singh.

Mishra said, “Each ‘nyay panchayats’ will have five nukkad meetings a day.”

He said the party could announce names of candidates for the upcoming state polls after the campaign ends this month.

In the 2012 polls, Congress won two seats in the Amethi constituency.

Radhey Shyam won from Jagdishpur (R) and Muslim Khan from Tiloi.

However, Khan quit Congress earlier this year and the BSP has declared his son Mohammad Rauf as its candidate from Tiloi.
