Handicrafts played imp. role in human civilisation: Guv

Chandigarh, Sep 20 (PTI) Haryana Governor Kaptan SinghSolanki today said that handicrafts and handlooms have playeda significant role in development of human civilisation andculture. Singh was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of‘Mrignayani’, an exhibition of products crafted by weavers andcraftsmen of Madhya Pradesh, here. "The skills of craftsmen and weavers are reflected ineverything from the currencies of various emperors to theeveryday items used by the poor," said Singh. "These arts and techniques are as popular in modern timesas they were in ancient times. Hence, such fairs showcasingcrafts and handloom products provide people with anopportunity to access art, besides providing a platform forexchange of ideas," he added.
