Hawkers on strike, Lucknow sans newspaper for 9 days now

Lucknow, Sep 9 (PTI) Residents here have been goingwithout newspapers for the past nine days as hawkers in thecity have gone on a strike demanding a hike in theircommission. The newspaper hawkers have been on strike since September1 to press for their demand. "Newspaper owners have reduced our commission because ofwhich we have been left with no option but to go on strike,"president of Uttar Pradesh Hawkers Association, Raj BihariMunna, said. He said he met Principal Secretary (Information) NavneetSehgal today who has appointed a deputy director-level officerto hold meeting with owners to find a way out. Munna said the commission of hawkers has been lowered bythe owners from September 1. PTI SAB TIR ZMNTIR
